About Our Founder & Attorney Lawand Anderson

Before entering a career in law, I worked for several years in as an advocate for various non-profit organizations. These organizations provided resources to low-income communities of color. As an advocate, the experiences the clients shared resonated with me on so many levels. Raised by a single parent, I grew up in the low-income housing community of High Point. At that time, this neighborhood was predominately people of color with a subset of residents being immigrant/refugee. It was during this time; I had an opportunity to appreciate how the justice system interfaced with those that lacked the resources to successfully navigate it. In fact, those observations lead to me dedicating my professional endeavors to seeking social justice external to the field of law. One of my first jobs was with YWCA Girls Inc. I thoroughly enjoyed my role as a youth advocate given I was able to help shape young girls with important social justice skills such as how to recognize and deal with discrimination, past and present abuse as well as how to leverage positions within the justice field to access support e.g. Domestic Violence Advocates, Public Defenders, Legal Aide, etc.

In later years, I turned to public service. With almost eleven years as a Public Servant with the City of Seattle, I worked on key policy initiatives that were specifically geared towards eliminating racial discrimination. However, my passion for finding justice for individuals suffering from past trauma never subsided. It was then I made the decision to pursue my passion in the field of law.

Since becoming an attorney, I've actively pursued justice for those in need of legal counsel that has translatable expertise as both a prosecutor and now a Plaintiff's Attorney. As a Plaintiff's Attorney, I advocate for just outcomes for individuals who were victimized, e.g. survivors of sex abuse while in foster care, group homes, churches, etc. Additional areas of practice include personal injuries; restoration of voting and gun rights; law and representing clients who have been discriminated by the police or in the workplace.
